A trip to the National Museum in London many years ago inspired me to take up painting. A few days later I bought a canvas, oil paint and some brushes and started.

My first picture was the self-portrait above.

Human beings, especially the human face, have always fascinated me. From a very young age I felt that the face, like the rest of the body could be "read", that every person had a story to tell. All you had to do was look (!) and respect and treasure what you saw!

The paintings I create relate to this belief. Like seeing into somebody’s soul. Finding what is behind the outer appearance or showing the "mask".
